About the Pathfinders |

关于信息导航 |
| The purpose of a pathfinder is to assist individuals seeking information on a topic. The pathfinders developed for this project help individuals find quality health information on the Internet from MedlinePlus and other health resources related to particular health topics. Each pathfinder provides definitions, search terms, and Internet resources for causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, complications, prevention, and disease management for a particular health topic. The pathfinders created are culturally and linguistically sensitive and are available in both in Chinese (simplified) and English. |

由本项目制作的信息导航的主要目的是协助个人查找专题信息, 通过链接国家医学图书馆的医疗在线 (MedlinePlus) 和其它专门健康话题有关的健康信息资源，帮助个人查找高品质的网络医疗健康信息。每个专题的信息导航设有定义、查找词语、和相关疾病的病因、症状、诊断、治疗、并发症、预防和疾病管理的互联网信息资源。信息导航提供中英文对照。 |

Selection of Pathfinder Resources |

| The selection criteria for including resources in the pathfinders were adopted from the User Guide to Finding and Evaluating Health Information on the Web created by the Medical Library Association (Medical Library Association, 1999-2006). We used the following criteria to evaluate the resources in the pathfinders. |

资源选择标准采用医学图书馆协会出版的“查找和评估健康信息网络资源用户指南”。 在选择信息导航的资源时,我们使用了以下的原则。 |
- Sponsorship - The sponsor of the site should be clearly identified, as this helps to establish the credibility of the site.
- Currency - The site should be updated frequently and contain the most up-to-date information. Look to see when the site was last updated.
- Factual Information - Information should be presented clearly. You should be able to verify the information found with another authoritative information resource.
- Intended Audience - The intended audience of the site should be easily identified. Some sites are for consumers while others are for healthcare professionals.

- 实时性 - 网站应经常更新并包括最新的信息。注意查看网站最近的更新日期。
